Emergency Preparedness Practiced by Mayer Flaks

It seems as though natural disasters have only intensified in recent years. While some say global warming is the cause, Mayer Flaks just knows it is up to him to take the first measure to prepare and protect himself. No matter where in the country you live, FEMA encourages everyone to have a first aid and disaster preparedness kit.
The kit suggested by the national government includes many of the things you'd find in a standard first aid kit. But for emergencies, it goes a step further to suggest other products like: duct tape, water, and food that can be prepared or eaten without needing to be cooked. These suggestions are designed to help in large disasters where first responders may take days or longer to reach people in distress.
Mayer Flaks, living in a region prone to earthquakes, understands how serious a disaster can be. While many of the buildings are designed to withstand earthquakes, there is always a chance that an earthquake may occur and topple the infrastructure. Thankfully, Mayer Flaks has heeded the warning and advice and prepared himself in case of an emergency.
Mayer Flaks has prepared all the government has suggested be kept in case of an emergency but with the added crank radio. Should his cell phone stop working in an emergency, Mayer Flaks knows he can still receive information and updates through his crank radio. Instead of buying his kit, Mayer Flaks decided to build his own including the medical equipment suggested like a needle, knife, and scissors.
Living in an area prone to severe storms off the ocean and earthquakes from underground, Mayer Flaks encourages everyone living along the coast to be prepared for an emergency. Thanks to Super Storm Sandy, Mayer Flaks
will always heed the warnings of a coastal storm even if others around him take their safety for granted.

Hiking Enthusiast Mayer Flaks

Mayer Flaks regularly enjoys taking walks along the beach. Living in San Francisco as an art dealer, he often finds inspiration and peace of mind by getting fresh air while listening to the water lap along the beach. In order to maintain his healthy lifestyle Mayer Flaks eats as healthy as possible.
In addition to regularly walking along the beach, Mayer Flaks enjoys hiking through the mountains. One of the benefits of living in California are the nearby mountains. Fortunately, there are plenty of paths Mayer Flaks can choose. He knows the more rigorous the activity the healthier it is supposed to be, but Mayer Flaks enjoys hiking at a more leisurely pace.
Like anyone who goes walking through the woods, Mayer Flaks knows to bring water, snacks, and bug spray. When Mayer Flaks goes hiking, he goes with friends so as to minimize any risks that come with hiking alone. He brings all the gear and wears boots specifically designed for gripping rough terrain.
Hiking is Mayer Flaks's second favorite recreational activity. While he prefers walking along the beach, there is pleasure to be found in a sturdy and steady climb up a mountain path. Mayer Flaks particular enjoys hiking in the fall when the leaves start to change color. After his walk is completed, Mayer Flaks often feels relieved of stress.
Mayer Flaks gets the same benefits from hiking as he does walking. Both activities encourage him to maintain his healthy lifestyle and both bring him pleasure. When going hiking, he encourages everyone to wear proper hiking gear and to stick to designated paths. If going on a long hike, it is easy to become lost. For his own safety, Mayer Flaks never goes hiking alone and always carries a small first aid kit along with his hiking gear in case of an emergency or accident.
