San Francisco Art Dealer Mayer Flaks Adds to Emergency Kit

There are many suggestions on the internet on what should be included in an individual's emergency preparedness kit. Instead of buying a commercial kit, San Francisco art dealer Mayer Flaks had created his own. Mayer Flaks lives in San Francisco, California where the risk and threat of an earthquake is an everyday reality. But, for the most part, Mayer Flaks lives comfortably believing no tragedy will affect him.

After witnessing the Boston bombings, Mayer Flaks decided it would be beneficial for him to add to his emergency kit. Since the threat of home grown terrorists is not as much a theory and a more of a fact, Mayer Flaks decided it would be in his best interest to make sure he had plenty of the gauze, medical tape, and disinfectants necessary to be keep wounds clean. In addition to changing old batteries in the kit, Mayer Flaks added solar operated lights so he would have less to worry about if San Francisco were to lose power.

Mayer Flaks

Mayer Flaks lives and works in San Francisco as an art dealer. He is not a paranoid doomsday fanatic, but based on the suggestions and warnings of FEMA and other emergency organizations, Mayer Flaks figured it is better to be safe than sorry. Yet for all his prepping, Mayer Flaks knows there are many variables that are called into play during an emergency including the reactions of his neighbors and others in his community.

For himself, Mayer Flaks figured all he could do was prepare general medical supplies to cover a range of emergencies and have a plan of action. Mayer Flaks isn't out to save the world, but he hopes to be able to save himself and if possible others. Mayer Flaks hopes others in his community will prepare as well and assist each other in an emergency just as people did in Boston.

Blood Donated by San Francisco Art Dealer Mayer Flaks

Mayer Flaks is not a marathon runner but after witnessing the two bombings at the Boston marathon in 2013, he realized how easy it is for unforeseen tragedy to strike. It also made San Francisco art dealer Mayer Flaks aware that in moments of extreme emergency, hospitals may not always have an adequate blood supply if people don't donate enough blood before an emergency. Being healthy and capable of donating blood, Mayer Flaks decided it was once again time for him to donate his own blood to help save others.

Although it was the unfortunate bombings that reminded Mayer Flaks of the importance of donating blood, he knew his blood would not be used to help the victims. In fact, Mayer Flaks blood would not even be leaving the State of California. But, Mayer Flaks is proud of himself for willingly going to the Red Cross. He likes to think that in some persons' life, he will forever be an unknown hero.

Mayer Flaks

Mayer Flaks doesn't live the life of a philanthropist. He does make charitable contributions, but for the most part, he is an aspiring art dealer in San Francisco. Living in a large and famous city, Mayer Flaks can only image what it would be like to be targeted for a terrorist attack. Unfortunately, the reality is all too real. Mayer Flaks donates his blood hoping that it will not be necessary to use, but in an emergency, it is there to save one or more lives.

Mayer Flaks admits he is not a fan of needles. That is why for so long, he did not donate blood. It took the Boston bombings to remind him that tragedy is possible and not limited to cities a world away. Mayer Flaks isn't sure he'll donate every 56 days, as is possible through the Red Cross, but he is sure he will donate more often.

Americans for the Arts and San Francisco Art Dealer Mayer Flaks

San Francisco art dealer Mayer Flaks does what he can to promote art and art education in America. Today, education is highly prioritized by field and specialty and many people view art as being little more than a waste of time and money for schools and government funding. But there are many professionals and organizations trying to point out the benefit of art programs in schools and communities.

Mayer Flaks is an art dealer in San Francisco, California. Within his community, Mayer Flaks knows there are many talented artists both young and old. Many artists flock to the city but unfortunately, art programs are still being cut nationwide. Mayer Flaks believes that organizations like Americans for the Arts try to keep the art industry alive.

Mayer Flaks

Mayer Flaks believes in the organization partly because his own career is tied directly to artists, but also because many intelligent and world-changing individuals were artists. Mayer Flaks often points out to people that artists have played a pivotal role in shaping our world.

Mayer Flaks hopes that supporting programs and organizations like Americans for the Arts, more people will see the benefits of art. As much as mathematics and science is important, people idolize actors and singers who by definition, are artists. However, Mayer Flaks’s specialty is fine arts. He often attends art festivals both in San Francisco and other large art fairs and festivals around the country.

There have been a number of programs that have sprung up in the defense of art. Art is even used for its therapeutic properties. Mayer Flaks does not donate to each art program out there but he hopes that others will help further the education of how beneficial art is. His and others' goal is that art will not be eliminated completely from schools since for so long it was an integral part of helping students be creative in learning.

Hiking Resumed by San Francisco Art Dealer Mayer Flaks

San Francisco art dealer Mayer Flaks enjoys staying busy and going for walks all year long but some seasons are not a good time to go hiking particularly along mountain paths. Mayer Flaks doesn't go hiking when it is cold nor when it has been raining for long periods of time. The risk of paths being wet or slippery means a higher risk of slipping, falling, or other injury causing accidents.

However, now that the weather is warming up and leaves are open on the trees, Mayer Flaks has resumed taking his occasional mountain hike. Hiking in the spring allows Mayer Flaks to enjoy the smell of new plants as well as view the blooms of wild flowers growing in undisturbed areas not overshadowed by the woods.

San Francisco art dealer Mayer Flaks looks forward to his first spring hike every year. This year, Mayer Flaks was more excited than usual because he has started a new hobby for himself. Mayer Flaks has decided to take up photography. And not just any type of photography, Mayer Flaks wants to try his hand at landscape and wildlife photography. Mayer Flaks decided his spring walk would be a great opportunity to take some landscape photographs.

Now that Mayer Flaks is once again hiking, he knows he will lose some of the weight gained through the winter and over the holiday season. It is no secret that Mayer Flaks enjoys good food and in San Francisco, there are plenty of places to get good eats. However, thanks to the resumption of his walks and monitoring his portion size, Mayer Flaks has already lost weight gained over the winter months.

Mayer Flaks hopes to continue hiking with friends throughout the summer months. An additional benefit, Mayer Flaks has planned a trip to Alaska where he looks forward to any hiking he can do.

Weight Lost by San Francisco Art Dealer Mayer Flaks’s Increased Walks

Many people know they are prone to putting on a couple of pounds over the winter months. Cold or nasty weather keeps you inside where you are less likely to walk around aimlessly and more prone to finding sedentary methods of entertainment. Although San Francisco art dealer Mayer Flaks enjoys being healthy, he too falls victim to seasonal weight gain. However, Mayer Flaks works hard to shed the weight every spring.

Once the San Francisco weather started to warm up enough that Mayer Flaks could walk outside comfortably, he began increasing the lengths of his walks. Even more beneficial is Mayer Flaks ability to resume his love for hiking. Thanks to the increased amount of time Mayer Flaks walks along the San Francisco beach and his get-a-ways to hike mountain paths, Mayer Flaks has already lost five pounds.

While this may not seem like a lot, it makes a considerable difference to a person who is used to being in shape. Mayer Flaks does not beat himself up over his seasonal weight gain. He is used to it just as he knows his regular spring, summer, and fall recreational routines will help him lose the weight and keep it off the majority of the year.

Because he is so active in his personal time, Mayer Flaks doesn't bother joining a gym. He is well-aware a gym membership will allow him to exercise all year long in order to avoid winter weight gain, but Mayer Flaks is not ready to commit himself to gym membership fees just yet. Mostly, it is because Mayer Flaks knows three-quarters of the year he would not be using the gym. For now, Mayer Flaks is happy with his routine of walking along the beach. It is the physical recreation he enjoys most and he sees no reason to change his routine anytime soon.

San Francisco Art Dealer Mayer Flaks Cooks Medieval Meals

San Francisco art dealer Mayer Flaks enjoys good food and many of the best meals are once made right at home. Mayer Flaks enjoys home cooking because each meal and be customized to fit his particular taste. Recently, Mayer Flaks purchased "A Feast of Ice and Fire: The Official Game of Thrones Companion Cookbook," to create meals based on the fictional kingdoms found in the "Game of Thrones" HBO series.

Mayer Flaks has many positive things to say about this cookbook. As the official cookbook inspired by the series, it is high quality and very well put together. Many of the ingredients are easy to procure and in some cases, substitutions are necessary as the old world animals may not be available or extinct. Since the recipes are based off of historic recipes, sauces may need to be made before hand. Ultimately, Mayer Flax knows recreating a medieval meal means lots of preparation time.

There no recipes in the book that can quickly be popped in the microwave. Mayer Flaks knows some of the recipes sound bazaar but there are a lot of pie, soup, and even beverage recipes. Even better, Mayer Flaks can choose to recreate the medieval recipe or opt for the sometimes easier "modern" recipe.

While there are vegetable and fruit recipes, Mayer Flaks noticed the cookbook is very heavy on meat dishes. For anyone who ever considered what people ate during medieval times, the television series inspired cookbook is a great point of reference. Mayer Flaks found the snippets of actual recipes interesting even if interpreting the old English was difficult.

For anyone who likes cooking, Mayer Flaks highly recommends this unique cookbook. The recipes are easy to follow and Mayer Flaks has yet to find a recipe he disliked. For anyone who enjoys being creative in the kitchen, San Francisco art dealer Mayer Flaks recommends purchasing the book or buying it for a friend.

San Francisco Art Dealer Mayer Flaks Loves the HBO series "Game of Thrones"

Art comes in many forms and no one knows this more than San Francisco art dealer Mayer Flaks. Mayer Flaks is an art dealer in San Francisco who routinely attends various art festivals held in his beloved city including the performing arts and film festivals. After hearing about the popular HBO series "Game of Thrones," Mayer Flaks figured he'd give the series a try. Despite the graphic nature of the series, Mayer Flaks agreed with many of his friends that it is an entertaining, if not, addictive television series.

Mayer Flaks tries not to live to sedentary of a life but, every once in a while, there is something that ensures he will be glued to his couch. "Game of Thrones" is another one of the series that Mayer Flaks seems to plan his life around every Sunday. Mayer Flaks understands good work when he sees it and the intricate story of the series keeps is attention every Sunday.

Mayer Flaks is equally impressed with the visual art. The costumes are well done and the sets are amazing. To get the real authentic look, the series is shot in multiple real-world locations. Mayer Flaks is just one of many people to be inspired by the series.

To show his support and interest in the world created by the "Game of Thrones" author, Mayer Flaks bought a cookbook inspired by the old world recipes. Mayer Flaks enjoys good food and is not afraid to experiment with new recipes himself. He purchased "A Feast of Ice and Fire: The Official Game of Thrones Companion Cookbook," to experiment with recipes designed to fit the imaginary kingdoms of the series. The only word of advice Mayer Flaks can give when it comes to cooking meals based off of the "Game of Thrones" fantasy world is to be an experienced baker. Many of the recipes are time consuming to make.

San Francisco Art Dealer Mayer Flaks Takes Up New Hobby

Mayer Flaks is very knowledgeable about the art world. He has worked as an art dealer in San Francisco for years. Growing up, Mayer Flaks was always fascinated by art and how art truly leaves a lasting impression. Mayer Flaks decided that dealing art was what he wanted to do his entire life. Fortunately, San Francisco is full of talented artists both known and unknown. So Mayer Flaks works hard to promote the work of these lesser known artists.

For as much as he promotes the work of small artists to art buyers, Mayer Flaks wanted to create a bit of art himself. Mayer Flaks’s own pursuance of art is not driven by his hope of glory or fame. Instead, Mayer Flaks decided to take up the art of photography as a personal new interest. It was during the Christmas of 2012, season that Mayer Flaks bought a new Nikon camera in order to take photographs.

Mayer Flaks

As an art dealer, Mayer Flaks has in mind the different subject matter considered by most people to be art. He, like many, are drawn to landscape images. Mayer Flaks likes to go hiking along different California mountain paths and now, he takes his camera with him in order to capture any patch of landscape he feels is picture worthy. To Mayer Flaks, this may be flowers growing between different trees or the way the sun plays over the trees. Living in San Francisco, Mayer Flaks also enjoys taking pictures of the bay area.

San Francisco art dealer Mayer Flaks is still working on figuring out the intricacies of his camera. While his camera wasn't the most expensive, it wasn't the cheapest either. Mayer Flaks understands there is still much to learn about photography including how light effects a photograph and how different camera options effect the picture. Mayer Flaks looks forward to learning landscape photography through trial and error.

San Francisco Art Dealer Mayer Flaks Attends San Francisco Festivals

One of the benefits of living in San Francisco is being surrounded by a city that whole-heartedly embraces art and artists. Every year, there are dozens of festivals held within or around San Francisco. Some are wine festivals, some dance, and some are geared to San Francisco art dealer Mayer Flaks own specialty as an art dealer.

Mayer Flaks lives and works in San Francisco as an art dealer. He is always on the lookout for talented new artists to promote. For Mayer Flaks, attending art festivals and cultural festivals is both educational and recreational. Some art festivals he attends are invitation only while others may be attended with the purchase of a ticket. But whether the art festival is on the street and open to the public or private and invitation only, Mayer Flaks uses the opportunity to meet the artists and socialize with other art dealers around the city.

There are a number of art festivals in San Francisco. One of the free events Mayer Flaks enjoys attending is the Lower Polk Art Walk which doesn't have an official start or finish point but is generally performed late October. In 2013, the art walk is scheduled for October 20th where gallery owners will keep their galleries open until 10pm. Mayer Flaks looks forward to this event because the 2013 Lower Polk Art Walk will open the first Artist in the Alley outdoor night gallery.

Mayer Flaks looks forward to this new event because it will feature live art and fine art from independent artists. However, artists in attendance have to register prior to the October 20th event. And although this event is geared towards Mayer Flaks own interests as an art dealer, he still enjoys many other festivals held in San Francisco. Mayer Flaks likes to attend the festivals mainly because they are a source of culture and entertainment to bring the city together.

Art on Display from San Francisco Art Dealer Mayer Flaks

Mayer Flaks is an art dealer in San Francisco, California. As an art dealer, Mayer Flaks works as a middle man connecting aspiring artists with art buyers. It is Mayer Flaks’s job to know what his buyers want and help them find the artist who creates the work that interests them. He has worked his position for many years and has shored up a number of steady and reliable art connections.

Mayer Flaks

One of the biggest projects that Mayer Flaks worked on was when a new medical office was being opened by a dermatologist. The office decided to furnish their waiting room and each individual room with local works of art. The medical office used Mayer Flaks as their go-to for buying art. Naturally, Mayer Flaks was exhilarated both for himself and for the artist he helped make sales for.

The subject and type for each piece differed from room to room. The office was mostly focused on the medium to large size paintings that could work in the big waiting room, or smaller exam rooms. In total, Mayer Flaks procured over twelve paintings for the one medical office alone. Naturally, the artists were pleased when their paintings were bought.

Mayer Flaks

This was one of the best moments in Mayer Flaks’s career. There was very little effort needed on his part to sell the talent of the artist and what made the art so unique and valuable. Instead, he just had to document which art was wanted and add up the total before finishing the sale. Mayer Flaks’s asked the office to recommend him as an art dealer to any patients who found the work interesting. In this method, Mayer Flaks hoped to spread his connections to more interested art buyers.

San Francisco Art Dealer Mayer Flaks Appears at Local Fairs

San Francisco is a busy city and is where Mayer Flaks calls home. He loves living in San Francisco, California because of the city's location, beauty, and variety of creative and imaginative individuals. San Francisco calls to many people with strong cultural interests. That is why there are many fairs and festivals held in San Francisco and surrounding areas every month.
Mayer Flaks, an art dealer in San Francisco, likes to attend many of these cultural events. As an art dealer, Mayer Flaks puts a strong emphasis on attending the fairs and festivals that tie into his own line of work, but that does not stop him from enjoying other art displays. San Francisco is practically bursting at the seams with displays of art and talent.

Mayer Flaks

Mayer Flaks enjoys attending festivals focused on performing and visual arts. He also delights in attending wine festivals as well. Living in California, there is never a shortage of entertainment, good food, or wine, and Mayer Flaks loves good food.

Mayer Flaks

In the month of May, Mayer Flaks attended the artMRKT San Francisco. In January of 2013, Mayer Flaks attended the San Francisco Fine Print Fair and then the San Francisco Tribal & Textile Arts Show in February. Even if the art show isn't the medium or style of art Mayer Flaks is usually interested in, he attends each local show in order to maintain a strong presence in the community. As an art dealer, Mayer Flaks believes being seen and maintaining strong communication with artists and art dealers is important even if they are not native to San Francisco.

In 2013, Mayer Flaks plans on making many more appearances at art shows and art fairs. He attends functions that are free to the public or require the purchase of a ticket.

San Francisco Art Dealer Mayer Flaks Believes in Art Support Programs

Mayer Flaks, an art dealer in San Francisco, believes in programs that keep art alive in both schools and communities. He knows that there are multiple small art programs and art schools, but believes most strongly that the national organization Americans for the Arts is doing good work. The national group works hard in multiple areas to promote and educate on the benefits of art.

Mayer Flaks

People donate to the organization as individuals, companies, or partners. Every donation received is used to demonstrate to anyone in a decision-making position the importance art has for self-expression and even personal growth. Mayer Flaks does not donate financially to the organization, but his beliefs do align with the organizations: to promote art and culture in communities and schools.

Mayer Flaks believes the program helps make a difference by maintaining a presence by focusing on important organized areas of visibility. The program designed to promote art must fundraise every year to maintain their efforts. Mayer Flaks hopes educators and other professionals will see the benefit art has in everyone's lives.

Mayer Flaks

Mayer Flaks’s life is tied directly to art. He lives in San Francisco, California. For years, he has been an art dealer promoting the work of aspiring artists and connecting artists with art buyers.
If less people are inspired to create are and are dissuaded from art, people like Mayer Flaks will lose their career and entire communities will lose a cultural heritage. Mayer Flaks hopes that organizations like this will prevent that from happening. Fortunately, in San Francisco, there is no shortage of talented artists. Mayer Flaks’s city holds a lot of talent and culture securing his position as an art dealer for the time being. It is Mayer Flaks’s continued goal that the desire to create art will not diminish despite funding being cut for school art programs.

Mayer M Flaks Has Career in Photography

Cameras are not as simple as commercials make them out to be. Perfect pictures are not always the result of point and click. Many professional photographers chose different settings, shutter speeds, lenses, and resolutions when taking pictures. Depending on lighting, location, and proximity, the settings and devices used with the camera may need to be changed.

Recently, Mayer M Flaks learned that he can change the resolution on his camera in order to save room on his memory card for more pictures. Mayer M Flaks read that close pictures do not require high resolution the same way pictures from a distance do. However, Mayer M Flaks continues to take many of his photographs in high resolution because he likes to take the photographs and enlarge them to decorate his home, and to sell as a professional photographer.

To master a skill, time and practice are generally required. Mayer M Flaks believes mastering the fine art of photography is not any different. No matter how many times he reads the manual, reads tips online, or gets advice from other photographers, Mayer M Flaks believes there is no substitute for doing it yourself. Mayer M Flaks often finds himself venturing outside in order to practice picture taking.

Mayer M Flaks has a preference for natural landscapes and wildlife photography. Being surrounded by the city all the time, photographs of untouched nature seem like a separate reality. But, Mayer M Flaks also takes pictures of his city's skyline too. While nature is beautiful, a city skyline against a painted and colorful pink or purple sky is just as beautiful. Mayer M Flaks tries to keep an open mind about the subject matter he photographs. He doesn't want to tie himself down to just one genre of material. Mayer M Flaks appreciates the beauty of wide landscapes but also wants to be able to take close shots too. He is a professional photographer living in Portland, Oregon.

Mayer Flaks Plans To Travel

Mayer Flaks has great plans for himself in the future. Currently, he is an art dealer in San Francisco, California. As an art dealer, Mayer Flaks is regularly on the lookout for a new artist to promote at his studio. He has made a career off of finding and selling the art of local artists to local and area art buyers.

Eventually, Mayer Flaks plans on taking month or so break in order to travel to Europe. As an art dealer, Mayer Flaks has always had a strong interest in art. It is his goal to visit various European countries in order to see firsthand many of the fine art pieces that stood the tests of time.

Mayer Flaks plans on visiting prime art locations like Rome, Italy; Paris, France; and London, England. On top of their fine art museums, Mayer Flaks looks forward to immersing himself into the different cultures of each country. While globalization has led to an increased amount of cultural blending, he hopes to enjoy the different foods each country has to offer.

While traveling to Europe is Mayer Flaks' ambitions goal, he also wants to travel around the United States. Mayer Flaks enjoys nature just as much as he does art. Every week he takes a walk along his favorite beach spot. He hopes to visit some of the national parks in the United States and experience the country's natural beauty.

He plans on taking a trip to Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Canyon, and go swimming in either Lake Michigan or Lake Superior. In addition to national parks or natural attractions, Mayer Flaks also plans on seeing a Broadway show, watch a Civil War reenactment, and spend a weekend in Las Vegas.

Mayer Flaks hopes to travel many places in the near future. He looks forward to traveling internationally and domestically. Mayer Flaks is grateful that travel brings life experiences worth every penny.
