San Francisco Art Dealer Mayer Flaks Cooks Medieval Meals

San Francisco art dealer Mayer Flaks enjoys good food and many of the best meals are once made right at home. Mayer Flaks enjoys home cooking because each meal and be customized to fit his particular taste. Recently, Mayer Flaks purchased "A Feast of Ice and Fire: The Official Game of Thrones Companion Cookbook," to create meals based on the fictional kingdoms found in the "Game of Thrones" HBO series.

Mayer Flaks has many positive things to say about this cookbook. As the official cookbook inspired by the series, it is high quality and very well put together. Many of the ingredients are easy to procure and in some cases, substitutions are necessary as the old world animals may not be available or extinct. Since the recipes are based off of historic recipes, sauces may need to be made before hand. Ultimately, Mayer Flax knows recreating a medieval meal means lots of preparation time.

There no recipes in the book that can quickly be popped in the microwave. Mayer Flaks knows some of the recipes sound bazaar but there are a lot of pie, soup, and even beverage recipes. Even better, Mayer Flaks can choose to recreate the medieval recipe or opt for the sometimes easier "modern" recipe.

While there are vegetable and fruit recipes, Mayer Flaks noticed the cookbook is very heavy on meat dishes. For anyone who ever considered what people ate during medieval times, the television series inspired cookbook is a great point of reference. Mayer Flaks found the snippets of actual recipes interesting even if interpreting the old English was difficult.

For anyone who likes cooking, Mayer Flaks highly recommends this unique cookbook. The recipes are easy to follow and Mayer Flaks has yet to find a recipe he disliked. For anyone who enjoys being creative in the kitchen, San Francisco art dealer Mayer Flaks recommends purchasing the book or buying it for a friend.
